I bought a Mavic Mini 3 Pro ... Again ...

I've had a few of drones in the past, the first real one being the Mavic Mini 1. It flew great, and got a lot of great arial shots of London, countrysides and beaches. That was until my friends dog used it as a chew toy (Dog was unharmed, it was turned off at the time 🙂).

It still flew okay for a while, as it was mainly the chassis that had holes and bends in it. What really ended it's life was landing it on a beach in Kos - the sand there contains what I believe is a lot of iron particles ... And the motors being magnetic ... You get the picture 🤦‍♂️

So I went ahead and purchased the new Mavic Mini 3 Pro. This one felt a lot more stable and had a lot more features such as the follow mode and collision detection. Best of all though, was the built in screen on the controller. The older model had a mount (or grip type thing) that I needed to plug my phone into to use as a screen. It worked okay, but was just a bit of a fumble.

Fast forward about 6 months, I got to the point where I wasn't really using it anymore. But my friends Aaron and Emily were about to travel over to Africa for a year in their camper van - who also happened to have started vlogging their travels (You can follow them on youtube @stamptrampers).

When it comes to flying drones, there's always the risk of losing or breaking it. It's not like being on a bike or in a car, where a little bump won't do too much damage (Hopefully). With a drone, if it just slightly hits something, it's gunna go crashing to the ground.

Welp, that's what happened to it. Except it wasn't above ground ... It was above a lake 😑

There were some friendly fishermen on the lake that took their details and said they would contact them if they found it in there nets, but no luck ...

So Aaron decided to go ahead and buy another (not only to replace my lost one Lol) but also just because it produced really good video shots, and nice content for their videos. I'm heading out to Africa to go meet him soon, so they bought one second hand from someone nearby me, and I collected it for them to bring along. So they should soon have nice arial shots back into their Youtube videos any time soon now 😀
